I’ve recently been traveling a lot, which means sitting in a car for hours with nothing to do but drive and get frustrated with the drivers around me. And that can really drain all my energy and leave me tired and cranky by the end of the day. But it’s not all bad. I do enjoy listening to music or sometimes listening to my favorite TV shows on Netflix.
But once I reach hour five or six, I break out my oils. Since I’ve bought them and started using them, I haven’t left the house without a roll-on bottle of En-R-Gee, Stress Away, and Peace & Calming.
To make my roll-on bottle of En-R-Gee, I simply dilute the oil 1:4 with some carrier oil like Young Living’s V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or organic olive oil directly into a small roller bottle. This has been my go-to oil when I’ve only gotten a few hours of sleep and have to work a 11.5 hour shift, or when the struggle becomes real to keep my eyes open on a long road trip. When I do use this, I take the bottle and roll it across my forehead, the back of my neck, my temples, and sometimes my feet if I’m feeling desperate. It is often described to have a fresh and herbaceous aroma. However I find that if I put a significant amount on, the smell becomes a little off putting like essence of body odor…so I would definitely recommend putting a few drops of Lemon or Purification in the bottle depending on what you prefer.
The next two oils are ones I tend to use together. When I find myself in the car becoming frustrated at the person who just cut me off in heavy traffic, or when I somehow get lost on a trip I’ve taken dozens of times, I just apply one to two drops of Peace & Calming on my heart, and its aroma stemmed from Ylang Ylang, Orange, Tangerine, Patchouli, and Blue Tansy promotes a relaxing environment that has been essential for me.
And the third must-have during my road trip is a blend called Stress Away. This is probably one of my favorite oils and actually comes in the starter kit. Lime and vanilla extract work together to produce an amazing and calming scent. Most of the time I use it with Peace & Calming and apply one to two drops on the back of my neck, my temples, and my wrists. Something else recommended by Young Living that I would love to try next time is to put a couple drops of this oil on a cotton ball and place in the vent of the car so that the aroma fills the entire space.
So next time you’re looking at driving for nine to ten hours, be sure to grab your En-R-Gee for those road trip blues, and some Peace & Calming and Stress Away to keep that road rage at bay!
